CARE FOR A DRINK?
By
Anthony David Swaroop Kumar

He staggered and almost fell down. Only the hope kindled by the sight of an oasis far away kept him alive. Step by step, he slowly came closer to water, his immediate need. He was about to collapse into a shock. Some one saw him and ran to him with water.

As water trickled down into his mouth, he sighed, “Thank God, I made it,” he whispered as he eagerly drank every drop.

But what is this water? Two atoms of Hydrogen and a single atom of Oxygen fused together to form a molecule of a chemical compound. Water. An element. The element of life!

I cannot imagine the fertility of the imagination of Our Creator God who fashioned water. Just three atoms knit together to form water!

Life begins with water. It cannot continue in the absence of water. Water is essential for life. About 60 to 80 % of every human being is made up of water. Each of the 100 trillion cells in our body has water both within and without. Water, the universal solvent.

If we deny ourselves of water, we suffer dehydration, which may even lead to death. Water is food. It is also a good medicine. It is used in multiple ways as first aid for a wide variety of problems.

Water: what a wonder!

But then…

The Lord Jesus Christ talks about living water. He asks us to come and take living water from Him. He talked to the lonely Samaritan woman at the well in Sychar.” Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life.”(John 4:13,14)

Water, the physical compound is essential for life. It is useful in more ways than one. How much more useful and essential is the living water offered by our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ? (John 4:10b)

We wonder at the simple element water and at how indispensable it is for life. The Living Water, offered by the Lord Jesus Christ is even more indispensable for Life, spelled with a Capital L. Life, which is eternal and abundant. (John 10:10)

Dear reader, would you care to have a drink of this living water?

I like the way you broke up your article. It made for smooth transition between paragraphs. Good question to end it.
