Topic: Pride (04/12/04)

TITLE: The Wall of Pride
By Vanessa Severino

Pride is a stronghold that only the Lord can remove from our lives through His power. If pride is a wall seperating you from Christ, and His will for your life, you definitely need to pray freverently for Him to remove this wall. The only problem is, people who are proud, are too proud to admit they have a problem that needs to be removed!
Pride is the attitude that says, "we don't need anyone's help, even the Lord, that we got it covered," Pride makes us unteachable. It makes it hard to receive Godly wisdom and direction for our lives, when we think our own wisdom and opinions, are just fine, and there is nothing anyone could teach us, that will be of any help, that our way, our wisdom and strength is enough to get the job done. Pride, is thinking we know better than God, and refusing to lay aside our own opinions and agendas we strongly believe make sense, and let God work through us, to replace our wisdom with His own. The best bible verse I read regarding this was, "If anyone thinks he is wise by human standards, let him become a fool, so he could become wise." in proverbs.
When we get to a point in our christian walk, when we realize, that we have nothing to offer or teach anyone, that people need to hear Gods advice not ours. Also that we are nothing without Him, and apart from Him we can do nothing, that is when the wall of pride is knocked down. When we start praying prayers, such as,"Lord, give me the words you would to encourage them with, and let me speak those words, not the ones, that I feel will help them" also, when people correct us, and we thought we were on track, we are able to accept the correction, and learn from it, rather than be so sensitive about it, the wall of pride is knocked down.
Once the wall of pride is removed, the Lord will reveal awesome knowledge to you, and can accomplish mighty things through you. Absent pride, you become a more merciful person, you wont esteem yourself as much, once you realize, all that you are, all that you have, comes from him. Once the wall of pride is removed, you allow others to make mistakes, that you feel you would have never made, and give them mercy, and unconditional love. Break down pride, and you will see people as not mean or foolish, but hurting and in just as need as a savior as you are.
Once pride is removed, you will go to God first, rather than try to work it out yourself, then when it fails, then ask him for help. I strongly encourage you, that if you know you have an issue of pride, pray the Lord releases you from it, and if you think you dont have a problem with pride, pray that if there is one you dont know about, pray God reveals it to you, because the Lord has mighty blessings in store for you, and sin no matter what kind, and pride is sin, seperates us from God. I don't know about you, but I wouldnt want anything standing in the way of fully receiving all He has for me, and I am sure, you don' either. God bless you.

That was great. I too would like to have those walls of pride removed. Your article was a blessing.

agree with you about pride.

read it over and see if you can see where you might need a little work done to it.
remember the words:
don't and won't has a " in it. think there some other issues, but not for sure now..

the message was great.
ps I know I have groof on things as well, and what I haven't one day I will.
so I"m not judging just trying to help. (smile)
