Determined to keep myself out of trouble, fearful of eagerly speaking for Timmy, I decided it was time to do the dishes. Soap bubbling my reddening hands, I busied myself scrubbing the pots from our family dinner. Timmy, was obviously crazy in love with Jan - our gorgeous, delightful baby girl. Sweet Janny.
Timmy - spitting and sputtering, waved his skinny arms like windmills, trying to maintain his shaky emotional balance. Taking one brave step forward and two uncertain steps back to safety, confronting John, my curmudgeonly husband.
John - halfheartedly watched the evening news while surreptitiously eyeballing "nervous Nellie". He sat comfortably, unexpected humor tugging the corners of his mouth.
Timmy shuffle-footing, toed the thick blue carpet mindlessly. I quite expected him to make a terrified run for the bathroom.
I could almost capture both their thoughts and intents, but I still had to keep myself busy in my nice little kitchen and out of the living room.
Jan, giggling beside me, wiped the pots and pans and stacked them back in the cooled oven. She tried unsuccessfully to whisper his words to him when she could catch his desperate eye through the doorway. I, watching them all, could barely contain myself.
We were positive that Timmy was going to do the best he could to plead for our baby's hand in marriage - what a sweet old-fashioned trembling young man, about to burst with the anticipated question.
Suddenly a light lit up within Timmy, spurring him to action. He gathered his courage and finally blurted out "Mr. Jackson - I have such a LUST for your daughter."
Then he accidentally plopped down on the new potted cactus.

I think just changing his name to Tim or Timothy would help in his quest to "man up,"
