The hairs upon my head,
And yet I look around our world
With chills of fear and dread.
Deceitful lips spew hatred,
Maliciousness abounds,
The hearts, like blackened winter snow,
Their heinous words expound.
The unborn cry for justice,
Mass shootings reign supreme,
Terrorism rears its head,
And stills each silent dream.
Innocence now slumbers
Beneath earth's sunless sod,
And hardened hosts of evil
Gleefully applaud.
Where are You, Lord, while evil rules,
How can You this allow?
Yet each man chooses for himself,
Choices we're seeing now.
So hold my heart, Lord Jesus,
As I nestle close to You,
Wrap me in Your warmth of love
As sin's results come true.
Your tears must fall like raindrops,
While evil seems to win,
The choices Your creation's made,
Knowing what might have been.
The beauty of creation
Speaks yet to what's ahead,
Sunshine warms each blade of grass,
Stirring what once lay dead.
So while You hold me to Your heart,
Remind me that You reign,
The chilly fears of evil's hold
Replaced by Your domain.

"His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal. All the people of the earth are nothing compared to him. He does as he pleases among the angels of heaven and among the people of the earth. No one can stop him or say to him, 'What do you mean by doing these things?'" Daniel 4:34-35 (NLT)
"Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders." Deuteronomy 33:12 (NIV)

There were some inconsistencies in meter, but they didn't detract from the message, which was expressed with some excellent word choices, and lovely alliteration.
