whose eyes held the strength of a laser beam.
There was a man who ruled with a justice
unbending and rigid in formal extreme.
With billowing gown his step unfaltering
trod with firm pace his walkways of rule
and quivering pupils would listen attentive
for the sound of the voice, for his step through the school.
There was a man whose heart of justice
was clothed with a cloak of compassion, his keen
sharp laser eye detected the suffering
pain of the vulnerable, to others unseen.
There was a man whose words of harshness
sometimes would soften with unexplained sigh.
There was a man who always would listen
and sometimes they’d glint a tear in his eye.
There was a man who knew each pupil’s
potential and promise, the wise and the fool
would grow ‘neath impartial and unyielding firmness
and value his disciplined unbending rule.
There was a man whose stern outer surface
appeared an impenetrable strong barricade
but hidden, there flourished a God-centred servant
for there was a man who prayed.
There was a man who shaped my future
though he ne’er guessed, never heard, never knew.
There was a man who departed life early
for he had done all God had for him to do.
There was a man with a voice like thunder
that made fearful pupils quiver, and yet
there was man who shaped lives by the thousand.
There was a man I will never forget.
