From a hilltop just o’er the town
Come the sounds of church bells ringing,
Swirling, and sweetly drifting down.
Their swinging rhythm softly calls
To those with hearts and ears to hear,
Ringing melodies of comfort,
Note touching note, their message clear:
“Love is here, just for the taking,
Come, yes, come, to receive your share.
You’ll see it grow and overflow,
Reflecting God’s own loving care.”
“Hope is here, grasp and hold it close;
Take it with you into the day.
It will lift tired, lonely hearts,
Shining His light upon the way."
“Peace is here, come, be now at rest,”
Sweet-sounding bells keep tolling on,
“Who’ll come and take this kind of peace,
Unlike the world has never known?”
“Grace is here, come, come one and all!
Freely taking, gladly receive
From riches only Christ can give
To humble hearts that will believe.”
The joy-bells ring out one last call
To start the town upon its way,
“Come, come, for joy that has no end,
To Him we worship on this day.”
