Standing naked in my spirit,
I admit my need for You,
What was flames now more like embers,
Times with You have grown too few.
I remember burning brightly
Basking in Your love outpoured,
Living daily in Your presence,
Finding joy once more restored.
Those the days I felt Your wooing,
Cradled by a love so rare,
Those the days I found a shelter,
No more room for fear, despair.
Fan the flame, Lord, deep within me
For I long for Your embrace,
I confess worldly distractions,
Help me to my steps retrace.
In Your love I found such pleasure
And a peace beyond compare,
Fill anew, sweet Holy Spirit,
So o'erflowing, I can share.
Start with me, one little ember,
So a roaring flame ignites,
May a holy conflagration
Lift our nation to new heights.
“Disturb us, Lord, when
With the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst
For the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life,
We have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth,
We have allowed our vision
Of the new Heaven to dim.”
Sir Francis Drake (1540-1596)
It begins with one little ember.
If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. II Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

Your poem borders on one of my favorite by Amy Carmichael which ends this way: "Let me not sink to be a clod: Make me Thy fuel, Flame of God!"
Great devotional, and excellent job with rhythm.
I'm so proud of you for entering this poem. It's such a well-deserved win!! I love you!
Do you know the rest of that poem by Drake? :)
"Start with me, one little ember,
So a roaring flame ignites,
May a holy conflagration
Lift our nation to new heights."
Agree! Let it be!
This is an entry I would like to share with friends who are pray-ers...they would "see" the significance of their seemlingly little ember's.
Thank you! Uplifting and encouraging.
