Consuming thoughts of mind,
On doubts, on fears, anxieties
My feasting soul has dined.
“Do not be afraid, little flock...”
The lack of self assurance,
The fight to be of worth,
One day, at last, I'll truly know
The value of my birth.
”Do not be afraid, for I know...”
The time consuming battle,
Rejecting Satan's thrusts,
One day will lie behind me
Along with self disgust.
”Do not be afraid, for I have...”
The worries that controlled my mind
For present, future needs,
The punishment that I deserve
For all my selfish deeds.
”Do not be afraid, for I will...”
Consuming thoughts of future terrors
That I have yet to meet,
That eat away my peace of mind
And energy deplete.
”Do not be afraid, for I shall...”
The wasted moments of despair,
The battles of my mind,
When I constructed mountains
And urgency assigned.
”Do not be afraid, for I am...
Wasting time and energy
Because I don't trust You,
Teach me, Lord, You are in charge
So I don't need to stew.
”Do not be afraid...stand firm...”
Unblinded eyes, for now I see,
The peace that faith imparts,
My God controls the universe,
Consuming thoughts depart.
“You will guard him and keep him in perfect and constant peace whose mind (both its inclination and its character) is stayed on You, because he commits himself to You, leans on You and hopes confidently in You.” Isaiah 26:3 (Amplified Bible)
“For the rest, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is worthy of reverence and is honorable and seemly, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely and lovable, whatever is kind and winsome and gracious, if there is any virtue and excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think on and weigh and take account of these things—fix your minds on them.” Philippians 4:8 (Amplified Bible)
