"Fran and Tegan, are all systems go?" Fran looked up and then nudged her sister, Tegan, pulling off one of Tegan's headset before they both flashed Cheri a thumbs up and returned to their screens. The data was flowing into place. Tegan laughed happily as she watched the synapses lighting up. She pressed another button and the gray matter surrounding their base started to hum with anticipation. "Good. Now where are your sisters?"
"Parry's testing the reflexes and exercising, preparing for the long haul."
"Good. And Oceane are you ready?"
Oceane piped up, her large eyes peering through her thick glasses, "We have visual contact, boss."
Cheri took a deep breath and nodded. "Okay ladies, this will be a long one. This will be line-up assessments that you should expect to come across: English, math, reading, and science."
The Lobe sisters nodded: this was nothing new to them, the subjects were well known...it was just the information in them that was always the question. As Cheri continued to prep the team, Tegan continued to monitor the airwaves for any sign that the tests were about to begin.
Suddenly, her head popped up and Tegan barked, "Boss, we have instructions. It's show time!"
All eyes focused on Tegan as she began to scribble instructions, mumbling to herself, "fill in the entire circle...45 minutes for first test...do not go further...do not go back..."
Their base hummed louder as specific information for English began to bubble up. Thoughts, such as adjectives, adverbs, and run-on sentences began to fill the screens and Cheri Brum grinned.
"Alright ladies, it's show time. Let's get to thinking! Pace ourselves we've got a long morning otherwise."
