Be patient—sometimes your characters might be a bit shy or are in need of some bribing.
Characters can change! Look at Peter and Paul in the Bible.
Don’t stop writing. That “useless” manuscript might just spark something today.
Everything has a purpose when writing. Don’t forget about that minor character lost somewhere back in chapter 4—maybe they hold part of that missing key for the story.
Focus on the little picture, the big one will come into focus eventually.
Growing characters (and plots) can be like gardening—it takes time.
Help others. Sometimes serving as a sounding board can unleash ideas.
Inspiration will come...I promise.
Join with other writers and share ideas. They just might help you overcome a writers block.
Keep writing, even if you might consider to be “junk”
Laugh and cry with your characters, they might co-operate better.
Make time to write, no matter what.
No one can overcome your writers block but yourself.
Ouch! Watch out for the bruised egos and paper cuts.
Pray without ceasing for God’s words to flow
Quality verses quantity. The great debate of a writer; it doesn’t matter what...or even how much you get on paper, just write!
Research! Research everything; don’t make the foolish mistakes just because you didn’t know.
Seek God’s will and He will provide inspiration
Take your time, sometimes the story is in the finite details.
Unite with other likeminded writers.
Variety is the spice in a writer’s life. If a story isn’t coming out in your ‘normal’ voice, try something new. It never hurts to experiment!
Writing, overall is a craft...and an art form. It must be practiced daily.
Xaxior! That’s his name; you know that minor character from chapter 4. He has the missing key to the closet that you need.
Yield to God’s will. He knows what you are writing for.
Zeal for life is what provides the ultimate inspiration. In death and life, it inspires all writers across the generations.
