eight-legged creature
posed in invisible strands
content in waiting
Quatrain
We must not object to the humongous web
Spread out on the terrace in back
For there end the lives of mosquitos and flies
Such troublesome insects to smack
Acrostic
Sitting motionless
Possibilities exist all around
Imperfect symmetry with
Divine purpose, defined purpose
Every move conditioned
Ready for the exact moment
Clerihew
Little Miss Muffet
Shouldn't be upset
The spider never crawled on her or anything
It only sat down beside her while she was eating
Limerick
A spider who perched on a towel
Committed a terrible foul
For the towel's possessor
A staunch window dresser
Flashed the whole neighborhood with his howl
Villanelle
Wait for the prey
It surely will come
Silently stay
Maybe today
Its wings will succumb
Wait for the prey
Not a cliche
The need to keep mum
Silently stay
Don't back away
From rain or from sun
Wait for the prey
No other way
The loser takes none
Silently stay
Soundless survey
In unlighted slum
Wait for the prey
Silently stay
Triolet
I saw it running down the hall
A large brown spider after mom
As if a small thing could appall
I saw it running down the hall
It really seemed a wee bit small
To stir up strife in all our calm
I saw it running down the hall
A large brown spider after mom
