Let us build a tower into the heavens,
So that we can be like God."
The priest-king's declared.
And mortar and stone where carefully placed upon each other
Giving birth to a the proudest moment of mankind
Strong arms rising up the pedestal,
Determined to be like God.
Slowly, the tower was built.
First, reaching the height of the homes
Then, that of that of the palace and temples.
Slowly, it touched the clouds, being a beacon for all to see.
All for, one priest-king's whim.
The design itself, inspired by a dream.
"Higher, higher!" he declared.
So higher they built it.
Pushing further, higher,
Determined to satisfy the priest-king's goal.
But, they failed to take into account
One very important thing.
When God the Father, looked down
And saw what His children were doing,
In that tearful moment,
He knew what had to be done.
A single heartbeat passed.
And all the words became gibberish.
The languages were born,
All for one man's folly.
"Pass me..."
"Wat zei u?"
"Je ne peux pas vous comprendre!"
"ΒΟΗΘΕΙΑ!"
Chaos reigned supreme
In those dark days.
Until, that is, new families were formed.
And slowly each one drifted away from the cursed sight.
So remember,
And never forget,
The lessons learned at the tower
That will forever be called Babel.
