“Is it time yet? Can I come yet?”
God smiles on his newest child.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
Wait for just a while.”

“This hurts, God. Can I quit yet?”
God hugs his little girl.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
You must endure this world.”

“I’m here, God. Can you tell me yet?”
God hears the quiet prayer.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
But my answer is coming near.”

“They’re mean God. Can I run yet?”
God wipes the tear away.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
Stand firm and do not stray.”

“I tried, God. Can I give up yet?”
God sees the unsaved friend.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
Keep loving until the end.”

“I’m scared, God. Can I hide yet?”
God sees the wicked men.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
You must be a light for them.”

“It’s dark, God. Can I sleep yet?”
God soothes the weary soul.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
My plan will soon unfold.”

“I’m weak, God. Can I come yet?”
God cradles the sickened child.
“Not yet, Kate, not yet.
You must walk just one more mile.”

“I did it God. Can I see you yet?”
God spreads his arms out wide.
“Yes, Kate, now you may.
Come…leave the world behind.”

You showed your title well with the poem that followed. I could visualize Kate's desire to die, but God's keeping her on earth till her work was done.

Oh so sad, and just the way I would guess many who face a lifetime of ill health and sickness would feel. You brought this girl's desires to life.

This was beautiful, and very authentic to how God often answers us when we ask these very questions.

Don't feel bad about the weird characters. The same thing happened to one of my entries last quarter. I don't know what causes that, but I was still able to read this just fine. :)
