On October 4th 2005, two lives came into being, completely turning the lives of their expectant parents inside out and upside down. Nine years of disappointment, followed by ten months of anticipation culminated in one perfect evening when a doctor who had become a friend, smilingly handed two small bundles over to a pair of the most deserving parents I will ever meet.
To the twins of my heart:
Two eggs, imperfectly formed,
Growth halted for a season,
Now moving in a new rhythm to
The beat of my heart.
Growing, living, moving inside
Hope flickers in your parent’s eyes
Two eggs, two people
A boy and a girl.
Two tiny infants, expansive souls,
Guided by the hand
Of the Creator.
Your lives are a symbol
Of love realized.
Precious. Divine. Profound.
Blessed are we who have the privilege
Of witnessing your days,
For surely, your innocence and purity
Are affirmations of God’s Life and goodness.
Sweet wonders, may your days be
Graced with peace and may your lives be
Forever filled with joy.
