Would the Good Shepherd come to the sheep of His fold
All those who climbed in by some other way
Were robbers and thieves out to plunder their prey.
The door to the sheepfold though plainly in sight
The lost sheep of Israel could not see aright;
They’d taken their eyes off the promises made
And trusted religious traditions instead.
But those sheep who heard Him all followed the Lord—
He was the Shepherd—they knew from the Word;
To pastures of plenty, by still waters shore
In the care of the Shepherd they dwell evermore.
Other sheep, other folds, the Good Shepherd seeks—
Though time has elapsed it’s the same One who speaks;
If you hear His voice calling you out today,
Leave all and follow, let nothing delay.
I heard Him call when so lost and astray—
Other voices I’d followed brought naught but dismay—
He brought me rejoicings and gladness untold,
Thank God, by His grace I am safe in His fold.
