There are orange ties and purple ties
And ties to match your hair and eyes.
There are painted-by-designer ties
And ties tie-died and waterized.
There are silly-looking prints on ties
And ties that common sense defies.
There are costly ties and cheaper ties
And ties you get on sale as “buys.”
There are big wide ties and skinny ties
And ties of every shape and size.
There are wool and knit and cotton ties
And ties from silken thread supplies.
There are bolo, bow ties, clip-on ties—
All kinds of ties have been devised.
There are single and two-color ties
And ties like artists’—palette-wise.
There are patterned geometric ties,
But paisley ties are on the rise.
There are chocolate food-spotted ties,
Ties dipped in ketchup with the fries.
There are green, like shrub and spring-tree ties,
And ties to match the sun and skies.
There are Sunday ties and work-week ties
And ties when formal times arise.
There are boys’ and girls’ and women’s ties,
But mostly, ties are for the guys.
Mid the mazes of amazing ties,
The tieless look now takes the prize.
