ode to the perfect wardrobe
off with the rags
of immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire and greed
offerings found upon the altars of idolatry
do not cover thyself with the threads of
anger, wrath, malice, slander and abusive speech
weaving poison within thy heart
so as to dishonor the King
then who shall know Him in thy land?
chosen of God, holy and beloved
has not thy King called thee to dress well
in the adverse climate of your sojourn?
therefore put on the gloves of compassion
to cover the scarred hands of the Lord
serving His poor, His needy, His downtrodden
effectively spreading the healing balm
making Him known in all the land
don the shoes of kindness and gentleness
dressing the Lord’s faded wounds
then walk forth unto the byways of His domain
sprinkling His paths with kind acts and affection
with generosity and serenity
making Him known in all the land
adorn thyself with the tunic of humility
thus vanquishing thy heart of pride
for thee shall not fall
but stumble softly into His arms
reveling in His place of grace
as a humble servant
making Him known in all the land
wrap thyself in the cloak of patience
running thy race with endurance
with steadiness and cheerfulness
below the great cloud of witnesses
and among those beloved of the King
making Him known in all the land
embellish thyself with the jewels of forgiveness
received from the hands of the King
scatter them in His remembrance
telling of His mercy
making Him known in all the land
finally, be crowned with the hat of love
the perfect bond of unity
go forth as the King’s ambassador across the vast domain
His love never fails in
making Him known in all the land
chosen of God, holy and beloved
has not thy King called thee to dress well
in the adverse climate of your sojourn?
Lo, the King hath spun for thee the perfect wardrobe.
