A burger needs an open flame
To meet the heights of flavor;
The flames will seal the exterior
To hold the juices inside,
The smoke will enhance the taste
Like nothing else can,
And the heat will transform it
From raw flesh
To delicious food.

A burger can gripe about the process,
It can cry over the flames,
Disdain the smoke,
And can try to flee from the heat,
But a burger won’t become a burger
Until the process is complete
And every step is fulfilled.

Despite the doubts a burger may hold,
The flames are there for a reason,
The smoke has a purpose,
And the mercury rises at the will
Of the chef.

It may not be a fun process
To watch the flames,
To taste the smoke,
To feel the heat that overwhelms you,
But it is all a part
Of the journey to become
A perfect burger.

A rare offering. Well done, and providing much thought for food.

you effectively offerred up a great little theological message from a burger cooking...a little tweak by capitalizing Chef would give it the right touch:)

Ha! Very clever. The next time I'm sitting atop the coals, I will remember this image.
