Some weeks,
you feel like the tiger,
magnificent,
majestic,
capable of mighty feats
of strength,
amazingly handsome
and graceful,
more powerful than
others around you,
admired,
feared,
respected,
and honored.
Other weeks,
you feel like the snake,
barely noticed
beneath dense flora
as you crawl
from place to place,
unloved,
unworthy,
despised for the
slyness of your deeds,
feared for the
venom of your sting.
Most weeks, though,
you feel like the donkey,
plodding in harness,
laden with duties
and responsibilities,
occupied day after day
with necessity,
following the pattern
of life’s expectations
with ordinariness,
neither loved
nor feared
nor admired
nor honored.
But every week,
No matter your emotions,
you are the creation of God,
who loves you always.
You were fashioned
by His own hand
in His own image
to be the person
He designed you to be,
desirous of worshiping Him
with all your heart,
with all your soul,
with all your strength,
purposed
to follow His will.
And when God
looks at you,
as He looked
at His first creation,
He will say,
“It is good.”
