Puuush-breathe-push, a fuzzy head emerges--
Soon forgotten pain starts the celebration,
Praises are voiced as parents rejoice
At the first breath of godly creation.

Tomboy now, she dives from a swing
Toward a mountain of leaves for her waiting,
She lands with a thud--the dive was a dud--
In fear I gasp from her miscalculating.

Breathless she stares with star-dazzled eyes--
We watch from our pre-assigned pew,
Tears spill down her cheeks, nervous she speaks
Her own scripted vows, then “I do.”

Summer melts into Fall, then Winter tags Spring
When she announces the babe in her womb,
So happy are we, soon two shall be three,
And sweet breaths will sing lullaby tunes.

She barely could speak, her words sounded weak
But excitement was certainly detected.
“Hey Mom, it’s a girl, a pink dimply girl,
Your namesake, that’s what we’ve elected.”

Time’s march is swift for life’s precious gifts,
Grand-parenting--a much privileged thing,
God hears what I pray my last earthly day
‘Fore I rest in the arms of my King.

Oh my, glory be--it’s eternity!
Fragrance lingers on heaven’s sweet breath,
Bathed in pure love, in His kingdom above
There is beautiful life after death.

A great poem. I enjoyed the rhyme pattern and word choice. There seemed a very big jump between falling off the swing and getting married. Loved the last verse.

A lovely poem with a great title - how quickly the years pass!

I noticed the gap between leaves and marriage, too. However, this was still a great poem. Good job!
