White is the moon – a pearl
In a velvet sky of crystal stars;
It’s fresh-fallen snow,
A fluffy blanket hushing earth
Feathers of swan are white -
So, too, is rabbit’s fur, Grandpa’s hair,
A polecat’s stripe,
Cotton puff clouds
White is the tail of a jet
Flying high, the mark of
Chalk on a blackboard
A paradox of truth and lie
The gown of a bride
As she floats down an aisle
Milk from a cow and
Marshmallows roasting over a fire
White is a sand dollar or a
Sugar sand beach,
Salt from a shaker or
An angel-food cake
Some gardenias, magnolias, roses,
Lilies and carnations are White,
As are polar bear, fox, chinchilla,
Ermine, poodles, and peacocks
White is purity, innocence,
A clean slate,
The robes of saints
Cleansed by the Lamb’s blood
Imagine a world without white -
No pages to bring letters to
Life, nor canvases to be brushed
With rainbow palettes
White, the absence of all color
Gives life to all color -
As light dispels the darkness.
God in His wisdom created White
