Mamma?

Yes, Sweetie?

I hear Daddy out there with strangers. They talk something about a...an accident. Was that the really loud noise?

There was an accident Sweetie, but donít worry. Everything will be fine.

---

Mamma?

Yes, Sweetie?

I love you. You wonít ever leave me, will you?

Sweetie, I love you too, but I canít promise you that Iíll never leave you. Sometimes God has different plans for us. I donít want to leave you. I want to cuddle you close, but I donít think it can happenóat least not for a long time.

Mamma, what are you talking about?

Mamma was hurt very badly in an accident and the doctors say that they canít fix her. But youíre safe...

Mamma, whatís an accident?

Donít worry about it, Sweetie. Thatís what mammas and daddies worry about. Just know that your Mamma and your Daddy loves you very much. Okay?

Okay, Mamma.

---

Mamma?

Yes, Sweetie?

Daddy says that he had to make a really hard choice yesterday. But he wouldnít say what it was. He said that you would understandóthat it was what you had wanted.

I know, but it is okay...

---

Mamma?

Mamma?

Mamma?! Where are you?!

Wait, who are you? You sound familiar...

ďHello Sweetie, Iím your daddy...Ē

Short ... powerful ... true. What else can I say?

I actually choked at the end. Very powerful and insightful telling of one life beginning and another ending.

Simply beautiful!

Any mother can attest to the fact that we do indeed have a loving communication with our children even before they're born! Thanks for this bittersweet story.
Carole Robishaw 04/27/09
This was very difficult to read. Not because it was hard to read, but because of what it said, very well done.
Carol Slider 04/27/09
This is beautiful, poignant, and very effective. That's the ultimate pro-life decision, and you portrayed it so movingly! Very well done.

I'm a little slow, but after reading again, got it. Good job with neat perspective.

Tender and heart wrenching. Well done.
