Floating there
visible
through the grace
of GOD
in the
mind’s—I
are the distant
treasures
of memory.

But a treasure
is also
memory
itself.

A spiritual
collection
stored in
the heart of
the soul
and spirit
and written
into the book
of life for
remembrance.

Shared with
I remember when
and
remember the time
and
do this in remembrance
of ME.

Memories are the food
of angels
shared in a banquet of
love and joy and happiness
and peace
and also consumed by
the dark others
with remembered
inflicted fear, pain, suffering
and horror.

We live in circles
ratifying our life
through memories
as we revisit our
childhood home
comparing existence
to our memory
of them

Or by visiting places
and people we knew
far in the past
whom we seek
out again
and again
for our life
is inscribed
ratified
and
sanctioned
as real
and true
by our memory

When you die
(it is said)
your life’s tableau
passes through
the I of memory
from the end
to the beginning
so you are as a
little child
to once again
enter into heaven.

With memory
you are the sum
of experience and
existence and
the receiver of
wisdom
understanding
knowledge
and being.

You are the sum
of all memory
treasures
and
without memory
you are
not!

This is beautiful free verse. My favorite stanza began "Memory is the food of angels."

Just lovely with delightful images and much to ponder. Thanks!

Much food for thought in those lines. I am not sure that I agree with the last stanza - do you cease to be because you can't remember events? Do you cease to be if others don't remember you?
