Millions on millions of images
memories
of her
but I cannot find the first
although
Iíve searched and searched

There is no beginning
she was always there
in truth of fact
always there
before and
from the first moment
so no first memory

But oh so many
following one on one
tumbling over each other
an unbroken
waterfall of pictures
no film
or camera
or digital file
can touch

Still I crank the handle
over and over
backwards
of the images
on the old life picture
machine
pausing as
each memory
holds not only
an image
but emotions
and
feelings
of love, warmth, happiness,
joy,
and sometimes sadness

I turn the handle
slow at first
and then faster and faster
as memories fly past
and I find I am still
looking for the one
the first
memory

Why?
Whatís so important
about
a
first memory
of her?

They say memories
are what are written
in the
book of life
every night while you
sleep
with no conscious
mind
to interfere

So, I want to make sure
I know and can remember
my very first memory
the beginning
the start
and carry forward
into eternity
the complete
total
memory
firmly
beginning
to end
of
me
and
my
Mother

Awww! I liked this, the 'first memory'. Makes me think as far back as I can to see if I can remember what is my first impression. Great job and interesting format. ^_^

This was an excellent idea for a way to build a poem, and you built it excellently.

This flowed beautifully, and blessed me immensely. Excellent.

I liked the way you carried the thread of searching for that first memory through the poem.
