Their appearance inconspicuous
Circles of energy ripple outward
Fireworks explode in brilliance
Radiating colour and energy
Around a humble centre
Planets orbit their glorious suns
Perfect order and balance
Many small celestial lords to their own satellites
Order
Balance
Plan
Yet lives spin out of control.
Family, work, community, health, fitness, hobbies struggle for priority
The ever-increasing desire to possess, achieve, advance
Our lives veer off in crazy spirals of energy, misspent, purposeless
Why?
Are we wiser than the centre of all creation?
Are we more balanced than the One who sustains all that is?
What has gone wrong?
Centre us, Almighty Creator
Focus our lives, thoughts, energies and purpose
May your fearsome power radiate through us in balanced spokes
Hindus chant
Buddhists meditate
Incense wafts heavenward
Pilgrims traverse earth, sea and even sky
Catholics rub rosaries
Protestants, once claimed to be beyond rite and ritual, develop meaningful ceremonies
In our different ways
We all strive to
Centre ourselves
Why is it so hard?
Creation’s catastrophe
The earth ripped off its axis
All that exists reeling still from the horror
Universal powers knocked from pedestals
Power unleashed
A typhoon
Careening around the
Centre
Havoc
Destruction
Chaos
The deceiver
The Redeemer
The battle
The end
But not yet
Restore to us our focus
Almighty Anchor
Powerful Potentate
Great God
In our small world today
Play out your victory
Reflect in us life restored
Creation as it was created to be
Evenly encircling
The Centre
