Imagine the moment of death.
The moment of crossover.
The cessation of life.
The other side.

You shed your earthly body
and wrap yourself in your
immortal you.

You must accept as a small child
to be of the kingdom.

Your life passes before you
backwards
from death to birth.

In a flash.
or
drawn out moment by moment.

The pain received. The pain given.

Purgatory?

The river Styx.

The five rivers

Acheron,
the river of woe.
Cocytus,
the river of lamentations.
Phlegethon,
the river of fire.
Lethe,
the river of forgetfulness.
And Styx,
the river of hate.

Left behind. Crossed.

A guide awaits you.

Charon to give a name,
a guardian angel
an old friend
protecting you from birth
to death.

Guide
Across the threshold.
A guarded threshold,
Cerberus to give a name.
No return.
Guardian of the threshold.

Ancient Greek Myth

Shadows on the wall

The other side the true reality
This side
left behind
Maya

Sanskrit word for
That which is not.

False

Inherit the world
lose your soul

What price for Maya

You canít even take a burnt match
with you
across the river Styx

Only your immortal you
and what youíve become
in your journey
to the river.

Very deep waters, here. I think I could read this many times and still not grasp all the messages woven in! Gave me chills....

I'm intrigued, but confused as to the intrinsic meaning of this piece. I feel like I need Cliff Notes! LOL! Are you comparing the emptiness of false religion to the truth? Or are you presenting alternate routes to eternity apart from Christianity? I'd love you to post a comment after the hinting and hinging is over.
