in a forsaken room.
Their spirits crushed in disbelief,
an atmosphere of doom.
Consumed by overwhelming grief
for what the crowd had done,
The evil man had done.
The images besieged their minds,
events of recent days.
The mob that led Him off to die,
while whipped into a craze.
And never giving reasons why,
they crucified God’s son.
They killed God’s only son
So as He hung upon the cross
He knew the end drew near.
He uttered one last mournful plea
and everyone could hear,
“God, why have you forsaken me?”
Then darkness blocked the sun.
The blackness choked the sun.
“It is finished,” was His cry.
He set his spirit free.
The temple curtain had been torn
fulfilling prophecy.
His followers began to mourn,
they thought he was the one.
He was the chosen one.
Then He appeared before the men.
“Why do you not believe?
They found no body in the cave
and all you do is grieve.
Though I have risen from the grave
the work has just begun.
God’s work must now be done.”
