The Serpent at the Cross
Jesus,
why suffer so upon this savage cross?
The ones you suffer for
are only cursed dross.
Come down.
Come down.
Possess your kingdom here below.
Seize sovereignty,
and surely all will know
you are the one,
you are the son of god.
Why suffer so?
Why suffer so?
Jesus,
escape is in your grasp.
Just cash it in,
and you will last.
You will last
and hold the cosmos in your hand!
Escape the pain,
and here remain.
You’ll surely gain.
Just whisper now my name.
Jesus,
the storm is stealing near.
Look here.
Look here within my eyes.
Surely you realize
there is no need to suffer such distress.
It is not fit.
It is not fit
the son of god should shake ‘neath blood and spit.
Jesus,
listen well.
You deserve far more
than this suspended hell.
Say no.
Say no,
and you can make it so.
Don’t bear this shame.
Whisper my name,
and I, your savior, will remain.
Jesus,
open your eyes!
Assert your own desires,
and strike the skies!
Choose not this god’s path
who forsakes his son!
Die not!
Come down,
and worship Me,
the Only One!
“Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal's death on a cross. Because of this, God raised him up to the heights of heaven and gave him a name that is above every other name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:5-11 (NLT)

What can I say? A Winner for sure! I'm in awe, in absolute awe and speechless! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! You've made writing an Artistic masterpeice!
Blessings, Lynda
I can see why you and your husband discussed this long and hard ... but anyhow, from an artistic point of view, I love it. I bet I know your husband's argument though ;-)
(I wimped out with my theologically knotty piece.)
WELL DONE!!!! (Even as I shudder thinking of those evil horrible suggestions.)
