Out of This World

If Bigfoot had lumbered up and asked to use my phone, I couldn’t have been more surprised.
Dare I admit it?
Yes. Like most of the 50 million sane people worldwide who’ve reported this experience, I’m compelled to tell it, regardless of the consequences.
I have seen a UFO.
The sighting begs an explanation from outside the realm of earth. Isn’t that the real question behind unidentified flying objects? To boldly go where no man has ever gone before? In my case, that’s the Ladies’ Room. Sure, I have spaced out moments but mostly keep my head on my shoulders, with a neck in between.
I’ve always maintained an insouciant skepticism about intelligent life on other worlds. Of course that leaves room for unintelligent life, but there's enough of that on our own planet to fill the entire universe.
Here’s what happened.
Once upon a time (because it still seems like a fairy tale) I stepped out into sunlight to pick up the newspaper. The morning jogger was passing by. All was calm as usual, including me.
There it was, suspended just above the trees in my front yard, as motionless and silent as the silvery moon.
But it was not the moon.
The jogger wasn’t paying any attention. The paper boy rode his bicycle away without a shrug. Nobody shouted in horror, “LOOK! THERE’S AN ALIEN SPACE CRAFT!”
The thing looked like a giant barrel. That alone tells you I'm not making this up. Why dream up an aerial object that could not possibly fly? There were no lights, no windows, and no big-eyed dwarves inviting me aboard for a free medical exam.
I scurried to grab my camera and discovered it was OUT of film. This was even worse than if my hair had turned green. I could have sold that photo to Wacky World News for a fortune.
The thing disappeared in the few minutes it took to locate a spare camera.
It couldn’t have vanished into thin air. Or could it? As far as I could see from my hilltop house, that’s exactly what happened.
Disappointed, I decided to do some research on mysterious aerial phenomena.
I discovered that unidentified objects in the heavens are hardly a modern phenomenon. As early as 1504 to 1450 B.C., ancient historians have recorded them.
Some scholars attribute humanity’s very existence to aliens. If earth's people were seeded by other-worldly creatures, who created those beings? And their ancestors? The finish line demands a starting point.
I visited the Aerial Phenomenon Research Organization (APRO) based near Byron, Illinois, a center which has studied UFOs for decades, to hear Chicago therapist Dr. Karyn K. Mitchell, Ph. D. She treats people who believe they’ve been abducted by aliens. She looked professional and self-assured.
Her presentation was not at all what I expected.
Dr. Mitchell announced she is herself an abductee. The woman described a whole conglomerate of extra-terrestrial races visiting Earth, some of which have been impregnating earth women. Their hybrid offspring are living among us. Bigfoot may be one of these.
I had to leave the meeting, afraid I was going to burst into cosmic gales of laughter—not at the sincere Dr. Mitchell or her convinced colleagues. The entire subject was just so bizarre, so alien (a bad pun?). A giant step beyond my comfort zone.
Still, I could not dismiss the thing I saw. There had to be an explanation.
Why not go to the Bible for answers? In Truth's pages, I found God created a whole host of beings who do live outside the realm of our physical existence. Angels and demons are at war in the heavens. Some can perform signs and lying wonders in the sky ( 2 Thess. 2:9).
Did God create strange creatures on other worlds? He spoke to my heart, "Man is made in My Image. The secret things belong to me, but the things that are revealed belong to you and to your children," (Deut. 29:29).
When Jesus died on Calvary, God revealed a plan that was kept secret from the beginning of the world, (Matt. 13: 35).
What I saw above my treetop remains a mystery. What Jesus finished on the cross is a never-ending revelation of His goodness to us.
I concluded Bigfoot does not phone home to say, "Beam me up, Scottie."
However, Jesus went to prepare a place for me that's out of this world.
The good news is, there's always room for more.

very interesting! It needs paragraphing, and space between the paragraphs. I thought it was barely on topic even though I did enjoy it.

The only UFO's I have seen are the un-finished objects in my sewing basket. An interesting slant on the topic. Well done.

I see I had a comment on lack of paragraphing. It was there. I copied and pasted my entry, but the paragraphing on my copy did not come through correctly. I will watch that next time. Thank you members.
