I can empathize with John the Baptist, here he was Jesus' cousin, he'd baptized Him, seen the Holy Spirit descend like a dove, believed Him to be God's Son, but if all this was true why was he (John) in prison? I think I'd feel a bit confused too. But I'm sure John has no doubts now, about how things transpired. He was such a man of God. Thank you for this challenging and inspiring message. (I borrowed John the Baptist for my entry too). :)
Good thoughts and well written.

Good references, correctly applied.

There is wisdom in checking on what is taught because we are commanded to "work out our own salvation with fear and trembling".

We are responsible for our own choices of which "doctrine" (teaching) we follow.

There is wisdom in your reference of Acts 17.
