I’ve loved him for twenty years;
Kept our house clean of course.
We raised two kids; he’s a good father;
Worked, always home on time, never in a lather.
The news rattled my brain; nothing will ever be the same.
What did I do wrong; anything he wanted I was game.
I never cheated, fidelity is important to me.
Has he found someone with whom he’d rather be?
Is his mind rattled because he’s going through a change?
I don’t know, I just don’t know
Lord, settle my brain so I can pray today.
I need your guidance in a big way.
Please help me know what to say.
I don’t want a divorce at all,
My stomach feels like a big hard ball.
Jesus I have no one else but You to call.
What can I do the divorce to stall?
Please Holy Spirit tell me all.
Ring-ring-ring-dingle-ling-ring. The alarm clock rang.
“Thank God it was only a dream!” Laura pushed the clock button to off, rolled over to look at her husband Steve.
Steve stretched and yawned. “Good Mornin’ Darling; how’d ya sleep?”
“Steve, please tell me that you don’t want a divorce!” Laura reached for his hand.
“Divorce, who told you I wanted a divorce? I’ll put tape on their mouth for spreading untrue rumors.” Steve drew her close to him. “I love you; I’ll never want a divorce.”
“Oh Darling, I had the most awful dream that you did want a divorce. I couldn’t think about anything else until I found out if it was foretelling the future or pure fiction.” She moved into his arms, eager for his kiss.
Dreams seem so real while they are happening and even after we are awake. What dreams are is a much debated subject. Some say they come from our subconscious mind putting together random sequences of things we see. Others say they are ways for our minds to work out problems. I know that they are agitators most of the time. Rarely are they sweet and relaxing. Whatever they are, they are made by God and He doesn’t make mistakes. So, when I wake up from a bad dream, I thank the Lord that I was fortunate enough to have it and, if I don’t understand it, I ask His help. He has never failed to calm me down.

As far as the philosophy regarding dreams goes, I think there are many types of dreams. Some I think reflect inner fears or hopes. Still others I think do predict the future. Some seem related to physical feelings while others are definitely spiritual.
Regardless of where they come from, it's always a good thing to find out what other (spiritual) people think of it, like in this story where the woman discovers the dream was not a prophecy but just a nightmare. I'm so glad she found relief in the end! Thanks so much for this thought-provoking piece of work!
