I yield my heart to surgery by a sword which darkness hews,
Believing that its rending helps me light discern to choose.
Though penetrating pain, my riven heart completely fails
To match the agony of Christ's enduring driven nails.
I yield my mind, His exorcising scalpel to cast down
Imaginations which might mar my quest to gain a crown.
The purging of my mind is torment, yet it truly pales
Beside His crushing crown of thorns, inflicting crimson trails.
I yield my body, every blemish skimmed by His sharp blade,
Desiring most His image in my life to be displayed.
My skimming is no scourging, like His scars from whipping tails,
Inflicted by the leaders who retained their blinding scales.
I yield my life into His hands; By then 'tis but a sting,
For I know Christ's victorious in each and every thing.
Then, face to face, my Lord and I, all joy will prevail,
Our gain so worth the pain of sword, of scalpel, blade and nail.

"For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account." Heb. 4:12-3 NIV
"We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ." 2 Cor. 10:5 NIV
"For the perishable must clothe itself with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality. When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: "Death has been swallowed up in victory." "Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?" The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ." 1 Cor. 15:53-7. NIV
