When we were sweet sixteen.
I was very young and naïve,
A really shy colleen.
Sue, I remember yesterday,
When I first noticed you.
My poor heart was a fluttering,
And I was tongue-tied too.
Ah...young love.
Your velvet brown eyes flashed at me,
A heartbreaking smile too.
Secured my total surrender,
I fell in love with you.
One glance into your eyes of blue,
And you beguiled my soul.
The final seal a soft, soft kiss,
And you were in control.
Ah...romantic love.
Remember the day you proposed,
While kneeling on one knee.
You promised to love me always,
Be mine eternally.
I meant ev’ry word I spoke Babe,
You’re my life I am a blessed man.
The day I took you as my wife,
Was when my world began.
Ah...passionate love.
God blessed us with a family,
Two daughters and one boy.
They soon were grown had families,
Our life is full of joy.
Love, ev’ry day I’m thankful for
You, our children, and health.
Mem’ries abound o’er sixty years,
I’m a man with great wealth.
Ah...committed love.
Dear, I guess it is time to end,
Our spell of reminisce.
We need to go inside and rest,
I need a little kiss.
Angel, Let me move my wheel chair
Next to yours, face to face.
We can give each other a smooch,
And with our arms embrace.
Ah...true love.

True love is like our Savior’s love
Which never ebbs or wanes.
He’s always near He’ll never leave,
Through joy, despair, He remains.
