We look but we don't see
The hunger all around,
The eyes that speak of hidden pain,
The need in which they drown.
The lost who don't know where to go
To find someone who cares,
They only know the loneliness
And lie in their despair.
We look but we don't see
The timid and the scared,
Who long to put all fears to rest
The enemy has bared.
The hungry and the homeless
Who need a helping hand,
Their hopes and dreams lie shattered,
Life's not what they had planned.
The children...those rejected
'Cause Dad has walked away,
Left wondering what they did wrong,
For love they plead and pray.
The elderly among us,
Their usefulness behind,
We look but we just fail to see
The wisdom of their minds.
To have the eyes of Jesus
Who sees the needs and acts,
Who sees beyond the obvious,
Supply what others lack.
To have a heart that truly cares,
The means to then respond,
Some futures may depend on us,
We dare not simply “yawn”.
Christ's given us a mission
To follow in His steps,
Impart the means and courage, Lord,
This mission to accept.
“The Spirit of the Lord (is) upon Me, because He has anointed Me (the Anointed One, the Messiah) to preach the good news (the Gospel) to the poor; He has sent Me to announce release to the captive, and recovery of sight to the blind; to send forth delivered those who are oppressed—who are downtrodden, bruised, crushed and broken down by calamity; to proclaim the accepted and acceptable year of the Lord—the day when salvation and the free favors of God profusely abound.” Luke 4:18-19 (Amplified Bible)
“If you've gotten anything at all out of following Christ, if his love has made any difference in your life, if being in a community of the Spirit means anything to you, if you have a heart, if you care--then do me a favor: Agree with each other, love each other, be deep-spirited friends. Don't push your way to the front; don't sweet-talk your way to the top. Put yourself aside, and help others get ahead. Don't be obsessed with getting your own advantage. Forget yourselves long enough to lend a helping hand.” Philippians 2:1-4 (The Message)
