When he married I was a bit jealous thinking maybe I wouldn't be so important to him anymore. But that didn't happen. I gained a sister, another sister with whom I can share my heart. As it happened, we soon became a happy foursome when I married six months later, walking down the aisle with my handsome brother giving me away.
Love certainly does change over time. When we were young and in our country home, we fought like cats and dogs. Four years older, he always had to show me who was boss, or so it seemed. Always had to be in charge, constantly picking on me.
If I wanted to go through a doorway, he'd block it with his body. When we played “cops and robbers”, he always got the best “gun”. I can't believe now we used to bury the treasure behind the outhouse.
We had a rule in the house: if the television was on I couldn't play the piano. One afternoon my brother saw me headed to practice the piano and quickly snapped on the TV. I was fool enough to go ahead and start practicing, and ended up on the other end of a yardstick. Just didn't think that was fair.
But I never have figured out what I did to deserve being locked in the corn crib. What would make a brother DO that?
“Eek! Was that a RAT?”
Yes, love certainly changes.
