Eek… eek… eek…
I heard a squeak,
But, do I have the nerve to peek?
Groan and grouse,
There is a mouse…
There is a mouse inside the house.
Scurry… scurry…
Gray and furry…
Come and get it… hurry… hurry.
I need Mommy,
Daddy, too...
They will know just what to do.
Mouse is running,
Sisters crying…
Here comes Mommy, broom straws flying.
Round and round
The house we pound,
It is enough to shake the ground.
Mouse is trying
To take shelter,
We are running helter skelter.
Mouse and Mommy
In a race…
With kids and Daddy keeping pace.
The mouse is fast…
He sure can scamper,
Dad trips on the laundry hamper.
There it goes…
Right through that door,
And I slip on the kitchen floor.
In the bathroom…
No more cover,
Finally the chase is over.
By the tail…
It’s not that hard,
We put the mouse back in the yard.
Laughing hard…
Tears in our eyes,
We watch the news with great surprise.
Earthquake…
But, we never knew it…
Have to wonder…did we do it?

I know absolutely nothing about poetry but it flowed very smoothly for me as I read it.
I especially liked that it was a true story!
