"If you get me a red wagon, Daddy, I'll never be bad!"
Dad picked up his son, who was now four years old,
"Does it have to be red, Son? Can't it be gold?"
On Jimmy's 10th Christmas he said to his dad,
"If I get a red bicycle, Dad, I'd be exceedingly glad."
Dad looked up from his book, said, " Son, go to bed."
Then he winked and smiled, "You did say red?"
Ten years later Jim came again to his dad,
It was about a red Chevrolet he wanted real bad,
"It's advertised in the "Want Ads" at a reasonable price
And to have it on Campus would be ever so nice."
Well, Jimmy grew up and his Dad grew old
But the rest of the story...has got to be told :
General James Doolittle was that five year old boy
Whose little red wagon was his favorite toy.
Who would have guessed General Doolittle loved RED,

General James Harold "Jimmy" Doolittle, USAF (December 14, 1896 – September 27, 1993) was an American aviation pioneer. Doolittle served as a brigadier general, major general and lieutenant general in the United States Army Air Forces during the Second World War. He earned the Medal of Honor for his valor and leadership as commander of the Doolittle Raid while a lieutenant colonel.

It leaves me with a question about the significance of the color, though. Is it meaningful? Ironic? I just couldn't tell.
