There was also once a young man who only had one worry. “What a horrid man!” That was it.
There was, as well, once a girl who had no thoughts. “…” That was it.
The old man had no friends because he roared at all the same – “Horrid! Horrid!” and went about grumbling hideously to himself; for it’s a terrible thing to have never been loved.
The young man also had no friends because he cried out to all the same – “Horrid! Horrid!” and went about sulking horribly to himself; for it’s a terrible thing also to know you shall never be loved.
Then one day the old man and the young man bumped into each other as they made their head down ways towards nowhere in particular brooding and saying, “Horrid! Horrid!”; and upon their bumping and exclaiming they caught each other’s eyes and realized that they completely understood each other… and they smiled, creating a memory, a thought, which spoke of hope and said quite convincingly, “Wonderful!” They became the best of friends until…
They both fell in love with the girl.
Then the old man frowned at the young man and the young man frowned at the old man, and together they yelled at the other: “Horrid! Horrid!” and separated ways to resume their accustomed mumblings, love forgotten.
The girl albeit, thought nothing of it.
Moral:
There are four kinds of people in this world: he who sees the bad that’s past; he who sees the bad to come; he who tries to see nothing at all; and he who sees the Good.
Which “he who” are you?
John 1:9 (ESV), “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”
