Deeply disturbed, the evangelist waked on the wet sand, each step made heavier by the thoughts that raged inside him. The moonlight shimmered on a largely dormant sea, and gave the waters and the sand a surreal white color. “How difficult”, he thought. “How difficult it is to do the God’s work.” He harked back upon the days of his theological college looking for something… an answer… or just a hope to cling on to. A bible verse, maybe. A parable.
“GALILEE!” - He had found his answer - the beach that was the stage of God. The evangelist slowed down his pace and began to contemplate more. He looked ahead at the sand, the rocks, the palm tress, all bathed in unreal white moonlight. It must have been a similar setting some two thousand years ago, he thought. A sea, a beach and the most perfect orator in human history speaking the most perfect words and giving this most imperfect world a chance at salvation and eternal life. The evangelist aborted his walk and sat, cross-legged, on the beach. Did Jesus deny anyone? Was a blind man ever told to go back because the master was too busy? Never. Was a possessed individual ever turned away to hope for a less frenetic day, when the Son of God was free to cast away the demons that had given him death for the most part of his life? Never. The evangelist purposefully stood up. He turned and walked a little faster. There was a spring in his step, which quickly turned to bounce, and before long he was running. Now he was going to be a true evangelist of God. No more hiding; no more complaints. He stopped to scrutinize the beauty of the night. He surveyed the vast expanse of sand. Would Jesus deny one if the lame, the blind and the sick numbered the sand particles that made up this white beach? “No!” the evangelist screamed, “Because he was God, and whose example I shall follow.”
