Wasn't that a nice story?
He was such a good man that He let those mean people hit Him, and whip Him, and even crucify Him, all to take our place! You see, we deserve to suffer and die for our sins, but He did, instead, so all we have to do is accept His sacrifice for us, and we are saved! We get to live with God in heaven after we die! Forever!
Hooray!
A little toothless, isn't it?
Where is the triumph over death, the greatest victory of all?
Jesus' rising again proves that He was and is the Son of God, as He said He was, and makes Him worthy of our trust.
The Resurrection has to be the point of our witnessing, not the crucifixion!
After His resurrection, He appeared to several of His followers in different locations, and the final time, He said, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. (Acts 1:8-9)
So many of us, Christians in the modern era, would sigh happily at this point and close the storybook:
But, folks, even ending the story here leaves the hearer only gumming the message to death, with too little information!
Share His story, yes, but be sure and share it all--the death, the resurrection, and the impact the living Christ continues to have on the world, and your own life, today!
Since eternity looms for each and every soul, the time is now to get our message across: He was born, He lived, He died, He rose, He lives, He's coming back. Be ready!
He will reign on David's throne and over his kingdom,
establishing and upholding it with justice and righteousness
from that time on and forever. (Isaiah 9:7)
