He entered into the doctor’s cabin. “Come and sit Mr. Benedict,” said the doctor glancing at the case record. He was looking stiff in his whit coat.
Benedict sat perched at tip of the scrubbed stool. “Relax Benedict,” said the doctor kindly as he looked at Benedict. “I am Dr.Joshua. Please tell me what your complaint is.”
“I feel tired right in the morning Doc,” he moaned, relaxing a little “Even before I set out to work. By midmorning I feel fatigued. By evening I am completely exhausted.”
“What is your profession?” enquired Joshua, his pen poised. “Well doctor, I teach in a high school” said Benedict “I actually don’t like to teach but am forced to do it.”
“Why?” enquired the doctor as he continued to gaze earnestly towards Benedict. “Well, I am not fit for anything else.” He confessed.
“Do you enjoy doing something else? Have you tried doing something else?” asked Dr.Joshua. “Well, not exactly,” he replied bashfully, “I took it for granted that I can only teach because all my friends said it.”
“But you must enjoy doing something or other” said Dr.Joshua. “I love painting. I did a few water colors in my last vacation. Some friends said they looked promising.” Gushed Benedict.
Looking calmly at him, Dr.Joshua responded, “You seem to be really interested in painting. May be you need to do an about turn. We need to be doing what we enjoy doing! Anyway let me have a quick look at you…” He picked his stethoscope up from the table.
In a few minutes Joshua finished examining Benedict. “Sit down” he said as he went towards the wash basin. He returned to his chair, wiping his hands.
“There’s nothing basically wrong with you”
Said he, scribbling something on his pad. “You are perfectly normal.”
“Am I?” questioned Benedict, “But I don’t feel well at all!”
“I understand” said Joshua as he leant towards him. “You seem to be having some psychosomatic illness.”
“Whatever does it mean doctor?” enquired Benedict, “It sounds menacing.” “It simply means that your mind – thoughts and feelings that you have, are suppressed. They are being exhibited through your body. Your body is perfectly normal but it is showing illness due to your mind.” Explained Joshua patiently.
“What shall I do then?” he asked helplessly. “What I can suggest benedict is that you take some time off. Introspect your life. Review your goal and objectives in life. You may feel like doing an about turn with your life. Go ahead do it! You may surprise yourself and be happy. There’s little drugs can do to help you.”
“Thank you so much for giving me some direction doctor”, he said as he prepared to leave the cabin.

Joshua was strolling in the street one evening. He ran into Benedict. “Doctor, doctor” cried he as he literally grabbed him by the hand. “Do you remember me? I am Benedict. I came to you a few months ago.”
“Yes I remember” said Joshua, taken a little aback. “You told me that I may need to do an about turn. I did turn about. And how? I changed my lifestyle, took up painting professionally. Now I have no problems of any sort. Am enjoying my life. Thanks a lot for your help doctor.”
Joshua grinned. “I am happy for you too. Often we need to remember that we need to enjoy whatever we keep doing!”
