‘TWAS GOD AT WORK!

A glimmer, a flash, the first light,
Ever to grace one’s sight,
It glowed and parted the day and the night
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the first day!

The waters heaved and swelled
The sky appeared bejewelled,
He called it heaven,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the second day!

He spoke and the land bunched up you see,
The earth He called it on that day
The waters He gathered & called them the sea
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the third day!

The earth blossomed with plants,
And trees blooming with fruit sans ants,
Each bore it’s own seed, and again that plant,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the third day!

He appointed lights for days and nights,
He called them sun and moon,
The dark night bid ‘bye to bright daylights,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the fourth day!

Life forms of all hues swarmed the sea,
As God made them the light to see,
He made the sea monsters and the microbes too,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the fifth day!

He also made the birds to fly,
Told them to go multiply,
The sea swarms as well did multiply
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the fifth day!

Finally He said, “Let us make,
Man for our own sake,
To rule o’er all creations wake,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the sixth day!

God made man in His own image,
Yes we’re made in God’s image!
He blessed us and made us special,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the sixth day!

Only man, God formed from the dust,
And breathed His pneuma and trust,
Then man began to live, as he must,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the sixth day!

Not happy with the mere ‘good’ plan,
And sensing the yearning of the man,
He pulled out all stops and made a woman,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the sixth day!

This is the Creation week story for us,
Life in all forms began thus,
In the first couple we caught the blessed bus,
All made de novo – how I pray?
‘Twas God at work on the sixth day!

God and God alone created all,
There is nothing He didn’t create at all
Whate’er He did was good,
All His creatures, yes, very good!

"all made de novo?" - all Greek to this simple minded Reader, sorry. However, check out the creation of Eve...much later; God saw that Adam was lonely and needed a mate..and THEN He took out a rib and made Eve. I don't believe he got lonely that fast on the sixth day; but nice job. Well done. Thank you.
