“When peace like a river attendeth my way … ”

Beneath a canopy of stars
Or beside a babbling brook
Peace is my companion
In whispered glen or sheltered nook

‘Here comes Love to sup with you
Breath deep of peace divine
Sit and find true rest spring up
Your own through My design’

“When sorrow like sea billows roll … ”

My heart it bleeds upon this ground
Where death has had its way
When far too soon the babe I bore
Within cold ground did lay

‘How sore My heart with you doth sup
On sorrows we’ve both fed
Yet naught is your inheritance
The grave is not thy bed’

“Whatever my lot … ”

My cup be filled with joys so sweet
Or o’er flowing with sorrow’s brew
The peace I’ve known within Your grace
Has always borne me through.

‘When to My Father I returned
My peace with you I left
When wrapped within that robe of grace
You’re never left bereft.’

“Thou hast taught me to say … ”

Though it came not naturally
My faith in You to place
I’ve known Thy sovereign love at work
That filter of Your grace

‘Before the stars first cast their light
T’was you My heart did love
My peace ‘tis your inheritance
‘Tis written with My blood’

“It is well, it is well, with my soul.”

So arms upraised I praise Your name
For peace I’m ne’er without
And to the heavens I must sing -
My soul’s, ‘tis well - rings out

‘For you are Mine and bear My Name
What e’er else life betide
For I am your inheritance,
The Prince of Peace, and you my bride’

Wow, there is some great poetry here...however, it's alittle confusing reading three poems at once. I would strike the reference from the hymn and make two poems out of what is left. I think they would both stand well on their own.
