What is the color of hope?
A rainbow sea of humanity
Huddled in shelters, treasuring life.
What is the face of hope?
A tear-stained face lifting a candle
To dispel the darkness – one small light
In a world reduced to mud.
What is the character of hope?
Hope is -
The smile of a child
Cradled safe in a mother’s arms,
A gentle whisper of wind
Drying up the sea soaked land,
The hand of a stranger
Offering food and water,
The sanctuary given
To the homeless in place after place.
Hope is -
The pledge to rebuild,
Heal and renew, working shoulder to shoulder,
Knowing that the long night
Will pass and give way to a new dawn.
Hope is -
The next breath, the next moment,
A silent prayer when all seems lost.
It shines through grief and pain and
Utter despair like the sun shouting its
Promise through the storm clouds
Of life – announcing its presence
Even when it appears not to be there,
It is. Hope.

Beautiful words that seem to come in the aftermath of chaotic devestation. Hope of survival, of help, of a new tomorow; beautifully done!

Hope! What a fabulous definition. Says far more than any sermon ever could. Makes me think of the human spirit inadvertently imaging the Creator's nature. Thank you.

A serious look at hope and a creative one at that.
