Even in the midst of the snow, cold and darkness of Artic regions, the explorers build houses for themselves of the very blocks of ice they tread upon. But within these makeshift houses is warmth, light, comfort and vitality, while all around is a dreary waste. There may be two currents in the great ocean; a cold one may come from the pole and threaten to chill and freeze all life out, but from the equator there will always be a warm one which will more than counterbalance the sudden in-rush of the cold. And so it is possible for us as Christians, even when things around and about us are dark and gloomy, and flesh and natural sensibilities all proclaim to us the necessity of sadness - it is possible for us to be made aware of a certain blessedness, an inner strength not boisterous but so peaceful and calm that the world cannot discriminate between it and sadness, which yet its possessors know to be blessed and highly favoured. Left alone anywhere in this world we as believers have the reassurance that we have a very good companion; in our ignorance we can always be strengthened and enlightened by His awesome presence and His precious Spirit; and in the murkiest night of our sorrow we will always have, burning cheerily within our hearts, a light unquenchable that is Unexplainable yet Undeniable!

You had some lovely metaphors here - I'd have liked to see you develop them a bit more. And I'd suggest you break up your paragraph, and even one or two sentences, a bit more. But a great devotional, good message

A brilliant Write and a fantastic Read - but it would be twice as good if you had separated it into...probably three paragraphs, with space inbetween. THat's my only suggestion.

This reminded me very much of the writings of the great Jonathan Edwards, the colonial preacher. Wonderful!

Well done. The metaphor worked well - very descriptive. I liked this.
