We stand behind a door that’s locked
Our hearts o’erwhelmed with fear
Our fate to die, like him our Lord
We feel it drawing near
Our ears incline to catch the sound
Of steps upon the stair
Our enemy with sharpened swords
We’re sure is standing there
Then suddenly the room is filled
With white and radiant light
Our Master stands before us now
An awesome, wondrous sight
“Be still, fear not,” His gentle words
He speaks as we bow low
“My peace I give to you my friends”
And joy begins to grow
His hands, his side, to us presents
The wounds He did endure
He draws us close, and asks we touch
To know Him and be sure
How could this be, that He is here?
This man that we adored
The empty tomb, it was no lie
To us He’s been restored
And yet not man, but God divine
Who else could cheat the grave?
He took our sin and shameful deeds
To us new life He gave
We stand beside an open door
A message we must bear:-
That resurrection power is ours
Our transformed lives declare
