There are lots of entryways in this life. We enter through a door at home, work, school, stores, offices, and other buildings (burglars enter through windows); we enter highways, interstates, and expressways with our cars; at different points in our lives, we enter into grade school, middle school, high school, …then some enter into college and grad schools; we enter into pivotal junctures in our lives like dating, marriage, and parenthood; finally, we enter into old age and begin to prepare for our one big EXIT – death.
But actually, death is not the exit out of life, …rather, it is our biggest ENTRY yet. However, when we breathe our last, we are suddenly presented with two doors. One is a single door with a sign in big bold letters, reading “Do Not Enter”. The other is a big sliding double door that automatically opens as people draw near – sort of like at Walmart, only much wider (Matt. 7:13).
A few knowing people walk up to the single door and take a card out of their traveling clothes. Just like the badge that many of us wave over a bar code detector that enables us to enter into doors at work, these people called Christians wave their cards in front of the door and it opens up for them.
The large group of people moving
towards the wide double doors on the left are surprised at the force of intense heat blowing their way each time the doors open to welcome the next group of newlydeads as their feet near the doors (Matt. 25:41).
But as each person waves their pass in front of the door on the right (Matt. 25:34), a friendly angel quickly wisks them inside as the door locks behind them. This door is for members only – members of the universal church of Jesus Christ. Then a majestic yet caring voice is heard: “Well done thou good and faithful servant: …enter thou into the joy of the lord” (Matt. 25:21) KJV.
Both doors are entryways into eternity. None of us are exiting life. We all are entering into a new existence through one of these two doors. But only one door opens into the house of God. The other door opens into an eternity without God.
The Bible teaches us that “Except ye be converted, …ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Matt. 18:3) KJV. The only way to be converted is through Jesus Christ.
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. – John 14:6 KJV
