There are times when we cannot understand
Why God allows such pain.
But there are also times when we know
That we need both sun and rain.
When our heart's desire is all torn away
And all that's left is loss,
We have to cling to the only hope left
The One who hung on the cross.
He knows what it's like to have everything gone
And only be left with the pain
To feel that it's hopeless, that God's turned away
To feel that it all was in vain.
And so, when life's way is too painful to bear
And nothing exists but your woe,
There is just one place left, a space in His heart
For there is nowhere else left to go.
And if when you're there, the pain still goes on
And you just do not know what to do,
Look up at his face; see the tears streaming down,
The Saviour is weeping with you.
