SPACE XPLORATION AND TRAVEL

Century after century man held to a vision that someday he would step onto the moon.
On July 20, 1969, that dream became reality. A man of planet Earth made his slow way
down the ladder of the lunar module and then placed his foot onto the surface of the moon. Early space flights lasted only a few hours or a day. Scientists could not be sure of how humans would react to longer flights. A great deal of the training is done with the
help of simulators. Many problems must still be solved before man can visit other planets. Here is a poem that helps explain mans dream of flight.

FLIGHT

Man has dreamed of flying high
Since birds first avoided his spear.
Not until nineteen-o-three,
Was it done despite his fear.

With gasoline and engine,
Propellers and wings for lift,
The Wright brothers flew their plane
And gave mankind their gift.

Many countries built their planes
As our world became insane.
Planes were used in two world wars,
With bombs and bullets to rain.

Now we fly in outer space
In search of life's creation.
Though most succeed, some will die;
Pioneers of aviation.

Nothing else man can conceive,
Is more luring than God's sky.
To be as one with the stars
Is the wish of all who fly.

A really appealing poem on the phenomenon of manned flight. And what a marvelous thing that is! Thank you!

I really like the last stanza. So true it is... and it IS God's creation. Great insights!

Like your poem, especially the last stanza.

An awesome poem! I loved it! I think of how mankind has stolen or "plagiarized" God's nature: From God's Hummingbird, Sea Hawk and Crocodile, man invented the helicopter, dive bomber and submarine. And the list goes on...but your entry on Space is brilliant...great job!
