It’s quiet. No one is home. I have time…I’ll make a quick pot of coffee to enjoy during our time together. There’s my bible. I can’t wait to see what the Lord has for me today.

Oh, there goes the buzzer on the dryer. It can wait. But my new blouse is in there, and it wrinkles very easily. I’ll just quick grab it out of the dryer and hang it up. Well, I might as well take care of the rest of the clothes in the dryer while I’m here. It’ll just take a minute.

Okay, I’m ready. Here’s my favorite spot on the couch. The warmth of the coffee cup in my hands and the aroma is so relaxing. Oh no! I should have unplugged the phone. I better answer it in case it’s an emergency. Be right back, Lord. It’s Amy and she does seem anxious. I better let her talk. It’ll be just a minute.

Okay, it was twenty minutes talking with Amy. It wasn’t too serious of a crisis. I have to microwave my coffee, so I’ll be right back.

While my coffee is reheating, I should see what there is to fix for dinner tonight. Hmmm, I think the chicken sounds good. I’ll just put that in the refrigerator to begin thawing. What would be good with that? I’m looking for inspiration in the cupboards. Sounds like my coffee is done. I’ll get right to it, but it’ll only take a moment to get some side dish picked out. I wonder if I have some carrots in the refrigerator. Yes, there’s plenty. I’ll just quickly clean them and have them ready to go. I wonder if that craft program is on. They have such cute ideas. I’ll just click the TV on for a moment while I clean these carrots.

I think I have a lot of the materials to make that craft. I’ll go check a moment and see. I do have a lot of it. The rest I’ll quickly get from the craft store. It won’t take long at all. My coffee is cold again anyway. I’ll just get another cup from the pot when I get back. I’ll be right back.

I knew that wouldn’t take long. I’m already back. How great that these craft items were on sale! What’s that? The school bus is outside. The kids are home. Oh Lord, I just don’t seem to have enough time in the day to get started with our quiet time. There’s just so much to do.

Some real truth here. That is, distractions do try to keep us from the real truth, don't they? You put this into words very well! Good job!

I almost wish you hadn't written it so well - perhaps then it wouldn't be so convicting!

Erm, sounds familiar. From reading the title I had hoped you would have some solutions!

So many earthly relationships break up or disintegrate due to lack of communication. Marriage Counsellor's state "lack of communication" as the biggest problem between married couples! Thus, you have hit the nail on the head - when it comes to how important it is to spend quiet time with God...communicating to him in prayer, and He to us through His word. So beautifully written, and Such a Great Message!
